Screen Producers Australia (SPA) notes the announcement by the NSW Minister for the Arts, the Hon. John Graham MLC and NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey, that the NSW Government will allocate $380 million in the upcoming State Budget to support the state’s screen and digital games sectors as well as implement a number of regulatory reforms to develop the sector further.
“This is a welcome commitment to the future of screen and games in New South Wales. We commend the Minn’s Government for its leadership in delivering this transformative investment, which, if implemented successfully, will improve local production capacity and ensure NSW remains a globally competitive destination for creative content creation,” said SPA CEO Matthew Deaner.
This investment and reforms are a direct acknowledgement of that value and an important step toward expanding the industry’s capacity to deliver even greater returns—economic, cultural, and creative.
“We look forward to working with the NSW Government on the implementation of this package and ensuring that producers are well-positioned to help realise its full potential,” said Mr Deaner.
SPA looks forward to further details in the Budget announcement on June 24.
